Phase 3 study of adjuvant metronomic capecitabine for locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Prof. Jun Ma
A multicenter phase 3 study in China evaluated adjuvant metronomic capectabine after definitive chemoradiotherapy for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The three-year failure-free survival rate was 85.3% with metronomic capecitabine versus 75.5% with observation (HR 0.50; p=0.0023). Grade 3 adverse events were seen in 17% of patients in the metronomic capecitabine group versus 6% in the observation group. One patient in the metronomic capecitabine group had grade 4 neutropenia. No treatment-related deaths were reported.
