Postoperative pelvic radiation therapy for cervical cancer is associated with long-term gastrointestinal morbidity. The phase 3 PARCER study in India compared adjuvant conformal radiation (3D-CRT) versus image-guided intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IG-IMRT) after surgery for cervical cancer. There were no differences between both groups for 3-year pelvic relapse-free survival (p=0.55) and 3-year disease-free survival (p=0.89) but 3-year cumulative incidences of grade ≥ 2 GI toxicitity (21.1% versus 42.4%; p<0.001) and grade ≥ 2 any toxicity (28.1% versus 48.9%; pxtagstartz0.001) were significantly lower with IG-IMRT compared with 3D-CRT.
