Phase 2 trial of perioperative sintilimab plus platinum-based chemotherapy for potentiallly resectable stage IIIB NSCLC

The phase 2 periSCOPE trial at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College (Shenzhen, China) evaluated perioperative sintilimab plus platinum-based chemotherapy for potentially resectable stage IIIB NSCLC. Patients receive two neoadjuvant cycles of sintilimab plus chemotherapy, followed by surgical resection and two adjuvant cycles of sintilimab plus chemotherapy and sintilimab maintenance monotherapy. Treatment was well tolerated. In the per-protocol population 44.4% had major pathological response, including 22.2% with a pathological complete response. The median follow-up was 34.7 months. In the per-protocol population, the estimated disease-free survival and overall survival rates at 36 months were 52,5% and 70.4%, respectively. The authors conclude that perioperative sintilimab plus platinum-based chemotherapy is an emerging treatment option for patients with potentially resectable stage IIIB NSCLC.
