Phase 2 trial of osimertinib plus consolidative radiotherapy for advanced EGFR mutant non-small cell lung cancer
Prof. David Gerber
Despite high initial response rates to EGFR inhibitors, patients with advanced EGFR
mutant NSCLC generally experience disease progression within two years. A phase 2 trial at two centers in the US evaluated consolidation radiation therapy (RT) to residual disease, adminstered at time of expected best response (8-10 weeks) to osimertinib in these patients. This approach was well tolerated and resulted in promising progression-free survival and overall survival (median PFS 32 months compared with 19 months with osimertinib alone in historical control).
