Phase 2 trial of anlotinib plus PD-1 inhibitor for heavily pretreated metastatic solid tumors

The combination of immunotherapy with antiangiogenic agents for the treatment of refractory solid tumors has not been well investigated. The phase 2 APICAL-RST trial in Shanghai (China) evaluated anlotinib plus PD-1 inhibitor for heavily pretreated, refractory, metastatic solid tumors. The combination of anlotinib and a PD-1 inhibitor was tolerated and had promising activity, with ORR 24.3% and DCR 81.1% among the efficacy-evaluable patients. Twelve- and 36-month OS rates were 62.8% and 28.9%, respectively.
