The phase 2 SOGUG-AUREA study, at 12 centers in Spain, evaluated split-doses cisplatin and gemcitabine plus atezolizumab for advanced/metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC) in patients considered ineligible for full doses of chemotherapy because of advanced age, poor performance status, or impaired renal function. The objective response rate was 48.5%, with complete response in 10.6%. The median duration of response was 9.2 months, and median progression-free survival and overall survival were 6.9 months and 12.9 months, respectively. The authors conclude that atezolizumab plus split doses of cisplatin and gemcitabine showed durable responses and promising survival outcomes among patients with mUC.
