Romyelocel-L is a universal, allogeneic myeloid progenitor cell product designed to reduce infection during induction chemotherapy for AML. A multicenter randomized phase 2 study compared romyelocel-L plus G-CSF versus G-CSF alone in patients undergoing induction chemotherapy for de novo AML. The romyelocel-L plus G-CSF group had shorter time in febrile episode, lower incidence of infections, less antimicrobial use, and shorter hospitalization. The authors conclude that romyelocel-L may provide a new option to reduce infections in patients undergoing induction chemotherapy for AML.
