The multicenter phase 2 SAKK 16/14 trial in Switzerland evaluated perioperative durvalumab added to neoadjuvant cisplatin-docetaxel chemotherapy for stage IIIA(N2) NSCLC. Ninety-three percent of the resected patients had an R0 resection. Among the resected patients 18% had complete pathologic response and 62% had major pathologic response. The 1-year EFS rate was 73% (compared with 48% seen in a previous study without durvalumab). The authors conclude that addition of perioperative durvalumab to neoadjuvant chemotherapy for stage IIIA(N2) NSCLC was feasible and efficacious.
