PD-L1 expression of tumor cells is a marker of PD-1/PD-L1 antibody treatment efficacy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Bevacizumab enhanced efficacy of these antibodies in preclinical models. A multicenter study in Japan evaluated the combination of atezolizumab and bevacizumab for advanced non-squamous NSCLC with high PD-L1 expression. The combination induced partial response in 64% of patients. Twelve-months OS rate was 70%. The authors conclude that atezolizumab with bevacizumab is a potential treatment for advanced non-squamous NSCLC with high PD-L1 expression.
