Phase 1 study of survivin dendritic cell vaccine for high-risk multiple myeloma
Dr. Frederick Locke
A phase 1 trial at Moffitt Cancer Center (Tampa, FL) evaluated a dendritic cell (DC) vaccine transduced with an adenoviral vector encoded with full-length survivin (Ad-S) for patients with newly diagnosed multipel myeloma not having achieved complete response with induction chemotherapy. The DC:Ad-S vaccine was given 7 to 30 days prior to stem cell collection, and again 20 to 34 days after autologous stem cell transplantation. No serious adverse events werd attributed to the vaccine. A high frequeny of vaccine-specific immune responses was seen, in combination with durable clinical outcomes.
