A phase 1-2 trial at Hebei Yanda Lu Daopei hospital in Lanfang (China) evaluated CD7-directed CAR (‘NS7CAR’)-T cell therapy for relapsed or refractory T-ALL and T-LBL. The therapy had promising activity, with almost 95% of patients having deep complete remission in bone marrow. Two-year overall survival and progression-free survival rates were 63.5% and 53.7%, with no significant differences between adult and pediatric patients. The safety was manageable, with grade 3-4 cytokine release syndrome in 11.7% of patients and neurotoxicity in 5%. The authors conclude that these results suggest that use of NS7CAR-T cell therapy for R/R T-ALL and T-LBL deserves further study.
