Phase 1-2 study of topical submicron particle paclitaxel for cutaneous metastases of breast cancer
Dr. Mario Lacouture
Cutaneous metastases in patients with metastatic breast cancer are non uncommon, with the prevalence being between 5 and 10%. A phase 1-2 study at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York, NY) evaluated topical submicron particle paclitaxel an an anhydrous ointment base (SOR007) for cutaneous metastases of breast cancer. The study found that the treatment was safe and well tolerated, with some reduction in lesion pain. Lesion stabilization was observed in most subjects over the study period.
