Patient-reported outcomes with adjuvant olaparib for gBRCA1/2 mutated high-risk HER2-negative early breast cancer in OlympiA

The multinational phase 3 OlympiA trial randomized patients with germline BRCA1/2 mutations and HER2-negative early breast cancer after (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation to one year of adjuvant olaparib (OL) or placebo (PL). Primary analysis of the trial showed that the disease-free survival was longer with OL than with PL. Patient-reported outcomes of the trial have now been published. Treatment-emergent symptoms from OL were limited, generally resolving after end of treatment. OL- and PL-treated patients had similar functional scores, slowly improving during the 24 months after chemotherapy. There was no clinically meaningful persistence of fatigue severity in OL-treated patients.
