Patient-reported outcomes of a multinational phase 3 trial of cilta-cel versus standard of care for lenalidomide-refractory multiple myeloma

In the multinational phase 3 CARTITUDE-4 trial, ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel) significantly improved progression-free survival versus standard of care in patients with lenalidomide-refractory multiple myeloma after one to three prior lines of therapy. Patient-reported outcomes of the trial have now been published. The median time to symptom worsening was 23.7 months with cilta-cel versus 18.9 months with standard of care (HR 0.42; 95% CI 0.26-0.68). Mean 12-month changes for EORTC global health status were +10.1 points with cilta-cel versus -1.5 with standard of care. The authors conclude that delayed symptom worsening and health-related quality of life improvements support cilta-cel’s clinical efficacy in lenalidomide-refractory multiple myeloma.
