Patient-reported outcomes in DESTINY-Breast02: trastuzumab deruxtecan versus physician’s choice for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer

The multinational phase 3 DESTINY-Breast02 showed that among patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer who previously received trastuzumab emtansine, trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) resulted in superior progression-free and overall survival compared with treatment of physician’s choice (TPC). Patient-reported outcomes of the trial have now been published. Baseline QLQ-C30 global health status (GHS) scores were similar with T-DXd and with TPC, and remained stable during treatment (median 11.3 months with T-DXd and 4.5 months wtith TPC). Median time to definitive deterioration of GHS-QOL was 14.1 months with T-DXd and 5.9 months with TPC. T-DXd was superior to TPC with respect to all other prespecified PROs. The authors conclude that these results support the overall benenfit of T-DXd for patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer previously treated with trastuzumab emtansine.
