Patient-derived organoids predict treatment response in metastatic colorectal cancer
Dr. Jeanini Roodhart
Accurately predicting treatment response in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is critical to avoid unnecessary toxicity and improve patient outcomes. A multicenter study in The Netherlands evaluated patient-derived organoids (PDOs) as predictors of treatment response in mCRC. Interim analysis of the study found that the 5-FU & oxaliplatin PDO screens demonstrated high predictive accuracy and were associated with progression-free survival and overall survival. The authors concluder that PDOs can accurately predict patient outcomes during systemic treatment.
