Patient-centred outcomes in SOLO1 study

Prof. Michael Friedlander
Prof. Michael Friedlander

The multinational phase 3 SOLO1 study randomized patients with newly-diagnosed, advanced ovarian cancer and a BRCA mutation in response after platinum-based chemotherapy to olaparib maintenance or placebo. Efficacy outcomes were published in 2018, showing that the PFS was signifcantly prolonged with olaparib versus placebo (60% versus 27% at three years; HR 0.30; p<0.001). HRQOL analysis of the study has now been published. The substantial progression-free survival benefit with maitenance olaparib was achieved with no detrimental effect on patient’s HRQOL and was supported by clinically meaningful quality-adjusted progression-free survival and TwiST benefits with maintenance olaparib versus placebo.
