In 2020, the multinational phase 3 PROfound trial showed significantly improved radiographical progression-free survival and overall survival in men with metastatic castratrion-resistant prostate cancer with alterations in homologous recombination repair genes and disease progression on a previous next-generation hormonal drug who received olaparib compared with those who received control. Pain and HRQOL analyses of the study have now been published. Olaparib was associated with reduced pain burden and better-preserved HRQOL compared with the control drugs.
