Overall survival with adjuvant erlotinib versus vinorelbine-cisplatin after R0 resection for stage IIIA EGFR-mutated NSCLC
The randomized phase 2 EVAN study, at 16 centers in China, compared adjuvant erlotinib versus vinorelbine-cisplatin chemotherapy after R0 resection for stage IIIA EGFR mutation-positive NSCLC. Long-term results of the study showed that the mediane overall survival was 84.2 months with erlotinib versus 61.1 months with chemotherapy (HR 0.318; 95% CI 0.515-0.670), with five-year overall survival rates 84.4% with erlotinib versus 51.1% with chemotherapy. The authors conclude that this study is the first to demonstrate clinically meaningful OS improvement with adjuvant erlotinib compared with chemotherapy after R0 resection for stage III EGFR+ NSCLC.
