Overall survival with adjuvant endocrine therapy with or without abemaciclib for HR+, HER2-, node-positive, high-risk early breast cancer
Prof. Stephen Johnston
The multinational phase 3 monarchE trial evaluated addition of abemaciclib to adjuvant endocrine therapy (ET) for HR-positive, HER2-negative, node-positive, high-risk early breast cancer (EBC). Long-term results of the trial have now been published. With median follow-up of 76.2 months, addition of abemaciclib to ET resulted in statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in overall survival (86.8% versus 85.0% at 7 years), invasive disease-free survival (77.4% versus 70.9%), and distant relapse-free survival (80.0% versus 74.9%). OS benefit was consistent across prespecified subgroups.
