Overall survival results from phase 3 ADAURA trial: adjuvant osimertinib versus placebo for EGFR-mutated NSCLC

Among patients with completely resected, EGFR-mutated, stage IB to IIIA NSCLC, adjuvant osimertinib therapy, with of without previous adjuvant chemotherapy, resulted in significantly longer disease-free survival in the multinational phase 3 ADAURA trial. The planned final analysis of overall survival in the trial has now been published. Among patients with stage II to IIIA disease, the 5-year OS was 85% in the osimertinib group and 73% in the placebo group (HR 0.49; p<0.001). Among all patients (stage IB to IIIA disease) the 5 year OS was 88% in the osimertinib group and 78% in the placebo group (HR 0.49; p<0.001). The authors conclude that adjuvant osimertinib provided a significant OS benefit among patients with completely resected, EGFR-mutated, stage IB to IIIA NSCLC.
