Overall survival analysis of ARCHES: enzalutamide for metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer

Prof. Andrew Armstrong

The multinational phase 3 ARCHES trial randomized patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer to enzalutamide plus androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) or placebo plus ADT. Overall survival analysis of the study showed that enzalutamide plus ADT reduced risk of death by 34% versus placebo plus ADT. The OS-benefit of enzalutamide over placebo was seen in most subgroups. The time to next therapy was longer with enzalutamide, and the radiographic progression-free survival benefit (already published in 2019) was confirmed. Adverse events were generally consistent with previous reports of long-term enzalutamide use.
