Outcomes of patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors treated at high- versus low-volume centers

Primary resection and debulking of liver metastases has been associated with improved survival in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs). The treatment patterns and outcomes differences between low-volume (LV) and high-volume centers remain understudied. A statewide study in Oregon found that outcomes of both locoregional disease and metastatic disease were improved in HV versus LV centers (defined as <5 versus ≥5 newly diagnosed patients per year). The authors recommend referral of all pNET patients to HV centers.
