Optimal treatment duration of bevacizumab as front-line therapy for advanced ovarian cancer
Prof. Jacobus Pfisterer
Standard of care for advanced primary epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer is cytroreductive surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy plus 15 months of bevacizumab. The multinational AGO-OVAR 17 BOOST/GINECO OV118/ENGOT Ov-15 open-label randomized phase III trial compared outcomes after 15 versus 30 months of bevacizumab treatment. Longer treatment duration with bevacizumab did not have a detrimental effect on safety or quality of life, but did not improve progression-free or overall survival.
