Oncological outcome of short-term intensive mitomycin chemoresection in recurrent nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer
Dr. Maria Lindgren
The randomized DaBlaCa-13 study at two centers in Denmark evaluated short-term, intensive chemoresection with mitomycin in recurrent nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer. Patients were randomized to mitomycin chemoresection, with transurethral resection (TURBT) or biopsy only if the response was incomplete, versus standard TURBT with adjuvant instillations. With two year follow-up, mitomycin chemoresection resulted in reduced number of required surgical procedures without compromising long-term oncological safety.
