Nomograms and scoring system for forecasting overall and cancer-specific survival of patients with prostate cancer
Estimated life expectancy is an important factor in determining treatment options for prostate cancer (PCa) patients. However, few effective prognostic tools exist for individual assesment of survival in patients with PCa. Analysis of PCa patients in the SEER database (2004-2015; n=283,252) identified age, race, marital status, TNM stage, surgery method, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, PSA value, and Gleason score as independent prognostic factors. These factors were included in survival nomograms
(A: overall survival; B: cancer-specific survival) with good performance in predicting OS and CSS. The authors conclude that these individualized survival prediction tools may contribute to clinical decisions.
