Nivolumab plus relatlimab for advanced melanoma: three-year follow-up of RELATIVITY-047
Prof. Hussain Tawbi
The multinational phase 2-3 trial RELATIVITY-047 randomized patients with previously untreated metastatic or unresectable melanoma to nivolumab (anti-PD-1) plus relatlimab (anti-LAG-3) or nivolumab monotherapy. Results after a median follow-up of 33.8 months have now been published. Both progression-free survival and overall survival were significantly longer with addition of relatlimab to nivolumab. Efficacy across the majority of the prespecified subgroup favored the combination. There were no unexpected safety signals. The authors conclude that among patients with previously untreated advanced melanoma, addition of relatlimab to nivolumab was associated with PFS and OS benefit, with a safety profile consistent with previous reports.
