Niraparib plus nivolumab or niraparib plus ipilimumab maintenance for platinum-sensitive advanced pancreatic cancer

There is an unmet need for cytotoxic chemotherapy-free maintenance regimens for patients who have stable response of advanced pancreatic cancer to platinum-based chemotherapy. A phase 1b-2 trial at the University of Pennsylvania evaluated the PARP inhibitor niraparib plus nivolumab (anti-PD-1) or niraparib plus ipilimumab (anti-CTLA-4) for such patients. The primary end point of 6-month progression-free survival was met in the niraparib plus ipilimumab group (59.6%) but not in the niraparib plus nivolumab group (20.6%).
