A retrospective study in Taiwan compared pegylated liposomal doxorubin (PLD-based versus epirubicin-based combination regimes as neoadjuvant therapy for early-stage breast cancer. In propensity-score matched analysis, pathologic complete response rate and radiologic complete response rate were significantly higher with PLD plus cyclophosphamide followed by docetaxel compared with epirubicin plus cyclophosphamide followed by docetaxel: pCR 26.9% versus 16.1% (p=0.034) and rCR 15.5% versus 7.4% (p=0.044).
