National Cancer Database analysis of temporal trends in use of stereotactic radiosurgery for brain metastases
Medical student Jonathan Shih
Analysis of the National Cancer Database found that from 2004 to 2020 use of stereotactic radiosurgery for brain metastases increased from 8% to 54%. However, disparities persist for patients with lower socioeconomic status, patients with no or public insurance, and patients treated at non-academic centers. The authors conclude that targeted efforts are needed to ensure equitable access to advanced cancer therapies.
