Multinational prospective study of overall survival with routine imaging or symptomatic follow-up after resection of PDAC
Prof. Hjalmar van Santvoort
International guidelines lack consistency in their recommendations regarding routine imaging in the follow-up after resection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). A prospective study by the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (33 centers in 13 countries) included 333 patients with disease recurrence after resection of PDAC. Most patients (71%) had received routine imaging after resection. Receiving routine imaging was independently associated with receiving recurrence-focussed treatment (aOR 2.57; p=0.01) and improved overall survival (aHR 0.75; p=0.04).
