Multinational phase 3 trial of zanubrutinib versus ibrutinib for symptomatic Waldenström macroglobulinemia

The multinational phase 3 ASPEN trial demonstrated comparable efficacy and improved safety of zanubrutinib versus ibrutinib in patients with Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM). Long-term results of the trial , at 44.4 months median follow-up, have now been published. Very good partial response + complete response rates were higher with zanubrutinib compared with ibrutinib. Median progression-free and overall survival were not reached in either arm. Zanubrutinib was associated with lower risk of adverse event-related treatment discontinuation. The authors conclude that these findings confirm the long-term response quality and tolerability associated with zanubrutinib.
