Multinational phase 3 trial of first-line maintenance lurbinectedin plus atezolizumab in extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer
Prof. Luis Paz-Ares
The multinational phase 3 IMforte trial compared lurbinectedin plus atezolizumab maintenance versus atezolizumab monotherapy maintenance among patients without progression after first-line atezolizumab plus chemotherapy for extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer. Progression-free survival (sHR 0.54; p<0.0001) and overall survival (sHR 0.73; p=0.017) were longer in the lurbinectedin-atezolizumab group than in the atezolizumab group, albeit with a higher incidence of adverse events (grade 3-4: 38% versus 22%; grade 5: 5% versus 3%). The authors conclude that lurbenectidin plus atezolizumab represents a novel therapeutic option for first-line maintenance treatment in this setting.
