Multinational phase 3 trial of addition of Tumor Treating Fields to chemotherapy for locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma

The multinational phase 3 trial PANOVA-3 evaluated addition of Tumor Treating Fields (TTF) to gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel for newly diagnosed locally advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma (LA-PAC). Addition of TTF to chemotherapy was associated with improved overall survival, pain-free survival, and distant progression-free survival. The adverse events most commonly associated with TTF therapy were skin events (76.3%; grade 3: 7.7%); TTF did not exacerbate the toxicity associated with chemotherapy or the disease itself.
