Multinational phase 3 study of venetoclax or placebo combined with bortezomib-dexamethasone for RRMM: overall survival in BELLINI

The phase 3 BELLINI study, at 90 centers in 16 countries, randomized patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma after one to three previous lines of therapy to venetoclax-bortezomib-dexamethasone or placebo-bortezomib-dexamethasone. Final analysis of the study showed overall survival favoring placebo over venetoclax and progression-free survival favoring venetoclax over placebo. The authors conclude that venetoclax usage should be avoided in the general relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma population.
