Multinational phase 3 study of adjuvant atezolizumab after adjuvant chemotherapy for early-stage NSCLC
Prof. Enriqueta Felip
Novel adjuvant strategies are needed to optimise outcomes after complete surgical resection in patients with early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer. The multinational phase 3 study IMpower010 evaluated atezolizumab versus best supportive care after resection and adjuvant platinum-based chemotherapy for stage IB-IIIA NSCLC, with pronounced benefit in the subgroup of patients with stage II-IIIA disease whose tumors expressed PD-L1 on 1% or more of tumor cells. The study showed a disease-free survival benefit with atezolizumab, with pronounced benefit in the subgroup of patients whose tumors expressed PD-L1 on 1% or more or tumor cells, with no new safety signals.
