Multinational phase 2 trial of savolitinib plus durvalumab for metastatic papillary renal cancer
Dr. Cristina Suárez
Metastatic papillary renal cancer (mPRC) has poor outcomes, and new treatments are required. The multinational phase 2 CALYPSO trial evaluated that the combination of the MET inhibitor savolitinib and the PD-L1 inhibitor durvalumab for mPRC. The response rate was 29% (95% CI 16-46) among all patients and 53% (28-77) among patients with MET-driven tumors, with median progression-free survival 4.9 months (2.5-10.0) and 12.0 months (2.9-19.4) in these two groups, and median overall survival 14.1 months (7.3-30.7) and 27.4 months (9.3-NR). The combination was tolerated. The authors conclude that the combination of savolitinib and durvalumab had promising activity in the exploratory subset of patients with MET-driven disease.
