Multinational phase 2 trial of neoadjuvant trabectedin plus radiotherapy for myxoid liposarcoma

Preclinical data suggest synergistic activity of trabectedin and radiotherapy. A phase 2 trial at 7 centers in 3 countries evaluated the neoadjuvant combination of trabectedin and radiotherapy for patients with myxoid liposarcoma. The study found that the combination was well tolerated. Pathologic complete response was seen in 13% of patients, with 10% or less viable remaining tumor in 51% of patients. Partial responses according to Choi criteria were observed in 83% of evaluable patients. No patient had disease progression. The authors conclude that the combination was effective in terms of pahtologic response.
