Multinational cohort study of prognostic impact of chromosome 1p loss and 1q gain in meningioma
Dr. Farshad Nassiri
The prognostic impact of chromosomal copy number alterations in meningioma is not clear. A multinational cohort study included 1964 meningioma patients who underwent surgery with or without radiotherapy. Chromosome 1p loss in CNS WHO grade1 meningioma was associated with outcomes that were highly concordant with CNS WHO grade 2 tumors. Combined chromosome 1p loss and chromosome 1q gain was associated with outcomes that were highly concordant was CNS WHO grade 3 tumors regardless of initial CNS WHO grade. The authors conclude that these findings suggest that inclusion of chromosome 1p loss and chromosome 1q gain may inform WHO grading.
