A cohort study at five centers in the United Kingdom evaluated the prognostic value of pathological lymph node regression after neoadjuvant chemotherapy for esophageal adenocarcinoma. The study found that pathological LN regression was a strong prognostic factor, providing important information beyond pathological TNM staging and primary tumor regression grading. The authors conclude that LN regression should be included as standard in the pathological reporting of esophagectomy specimens.
