Multicenter study of characteristics and outcomes of pregnancy-associated compared with non-pregnancy associated breast cancer
Dr. Qing Ting Tan
Pregnancy-associated breast cancer (PABC), defined as breast carcinoma diagnosed during pregnancy or in the first post-partum year, is one of the most common gestation-related maligancies. A multicenter study in Singapore compared clinicopathologic features and outcomes of PABC versus non-PABC. The study found that patients with PABC present at higher stage with more aggressive disease and have poorer outcomes compared to non-PABC patients. Termination of pregnancy did not improve survival.
