Multicenter retrospective study of apalutamide plus stereotactic body radiotherapy for metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer
Dr. José Alonso-Romero
A multicenter retrospective study in Spain evaluated the combination of apalutamide and SBRT among patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). At a median follow-up of 28 months, local control was 99.3% and 95.5% of the patients were progression-free. Complete radiological response was achieved in 87.5% of patients, and was independently associated with disease-free survival. Treatment was well tolerated, with grade ≥ 3 toxicity in only 2.2% of patients. The authors conclude that the combination of apalutamide and SBRT in mHSPC was associated with local and systemic disease control with minimal toxicity in a real-world setting. Prospective studies are warranted to confirm these findings.
