Multicenter randomized trial of adjuvant chemoradiation and immunotherapy for extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma or gallbladder cancer

The multicenter randomized ACCORD trial in China compared adjuvant camrelizumab plus concurrent capecitabine and radiotherapy versus observation among patient with resected extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (EHC) or gallbladder cancer (GBC). In this trial including 93 patients, chemoradiation plus immunotherapy was well-tolerated, safe, and associated with improved overall survival (HR 0.43; p=0.004) and recurrence-free survival (HR 0.46; p<0.001) compared with observation. The authors conclude that the study provided robust evidence for a novel treatment strategy in a challenging clinical context for patients with EHC or GBC.
