Multicenter randomized phase 2 trial of pazopanib versus placebo for avanced extrapancreatic neuroendocrine tumors

The multicenter randomized phase 2 Alliance A021202 trial found that among patients with advanced extrapancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, pazopanib compared with placebo improved the progression-free survival (HR 0.54; p<0.001). However, pazopanib also was associated with more frequent grade 3 or higher adverse events (84% versus 47%; p<0.001) and grade 5 AEs (8% versus 0%; p=0.017). Further development of pazopanib is this clinical context is not planned.
