Multicenter phase 3 trial of trifluridine/tipiracil with or without bevacizumab for previously treated esophago-gastric adenocarcinoma

Recently, bevacizumab was shown to be and excellent partner for trifluridine/tipiracil (FTD/TPI) in patients with chemorefractory metastatic colorectal cancer, both in terms of activity and safety. A multicenter phase 3 trial in Denmark evaluated addition of bevacizumab to FTD/TPI in patients with previously treated metastatic esophagogastric adenocarcinoma. The addition was associated with non-significant improvement of progression-free survival and no impact on overall survival. The combination of bevacizumab and FTD/TPI was well tolerated, without new safety signals.
