Multicenter phase 3 trial of ramucirumab plus irinotecan versus irinotecan for ramucirumab-refractory advanced gastric cancer

The multicenter phase 3 RINDBeRG trial in Japan compared ramucirumab plus irinotecan versus irinotecan monotherapy as third- or later-line treatment for patients with advanced or recurrent gastric or gastroesophageal cancer (AGC) that had progressed on previous ramucirumab-based therapy. Addition of ramucirumab to irinotecan did not significantly improve overall survival, although it did improve progression-free survival. The adverse events of the combination were manageable.
