Multicenter phase 3 trial of panitumumab versus bevacizumab added to first-line chemotherapy for RAS wild-type, left-sided mCRC
Dr. Takayuki Yoshino
A phase 3 trial at 197 centers in Japan compared first-line panitumumab (anti EGFR) plus mFOLFOX6 versus bevacizumab (anti-VEGF) plus mFOLFOX6 for RAS wildtype metastatic colorectal cancer. The study included 802 patients (604 with left-sided tumors). The median overall survival was significantly longer in the panitumumab group than in the bevacizumab group, both in patients with left-sided tumors (37.9 versus 34.3 months; HR 0.82; p=0.03) and in the overall population (36.2 versus 31.3 months; HR 0.84; p=0.03) (visual abstract).
