Multicenter phase 3 trial of nimotuzumab plus gemcitabine for KRAS wild-type locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer

Nimotuzumab is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody against EGFR. A phase 3 trial at 25 centers in China evaluated addition of nimotuzumab to gemcitabine for locally advanced or metastatic KRAS wild type pancreatic cancer. Addition of nimotuzumab to gemcitabine was associated with improvement of OS and PFS, while the incidence of adverse events was similar in both groups. The authors conclude that identification of KRAS wild-type pancreatic cancer is clinically important and therapeutically relevant and can be successfully targeted.
