Multicenter phase 3 trial of FOLFIRINOX versus gemcitabine for locally advanced pancreatic carcinoma
Prof. Michel Ducreux
The multicenter phase 3 NEOPAN trial in France compared 6 months of FOLFIRINOX with 6 months of gemcitabine for unresectable locally advanced pancreatic carcinoma (LAPC). With a median follow-up of 59.6 months, the median progression-free survival was 9.7 months with FOLFIRINOX versus 7.7 months with gemcitabine (HR 0.7; p=0.04). The median overall survival was 15.7 months with FOLFIRINOX versus 15.4 months with gemcitabine (HR 1.02; p=0.95). The authors conclude that among patients with unresectable LAPC, FOLFIRINOX improved PFS but not OS compared with gemcitabine.
