Multicenter phase 3 study of nivolumab versus placebo for relapsed malignant mesothelioma

Patients with pleural or peritoneal malignant mesothelioma progressing after platinum-based chemotherapy have a poor prognosis. The multicenter phase 3 CONFIRM trial in the UK evaluated nivolumab versus placebo in these patients. Nivolumab was associated with improved progression-free and overall survival. The authors conclude that nivolumab represents a treatment that might be beneficial to patients with malignant mesothelioma following progression on first-line therapy.
